Nat is a full-time Customer Success Manager (CSM) at a software company called ThoughtFarmer where she primarily focuses on managing over a hundred clients, facilitating onboarding and training, and building strong customer relationships. On top of the full-time gig, Nat started a baking business two years ago called Nat Cakes My Day where she creates and sells specialty custom cakes and macarons. And in late 2020, Nat and her partner started a custom and handmade dog bandana business called Bino For Short after the arrival of their goldendoodle puppy, Gambino. While her CSM role fulfills her love for client relations, it’s her two side hustles that are fuelled by her passion for entrepreneurship.

What does entrepreneurship mean to you?

To me, entrepreneurship means starting your own business. While the sound of that may be intimidating, it can be as simple as selling lemonade at a lemonade stand! It means taking a product or service and selling its value to others. Entrepreneurship comes in so many different forms which makes it so unique.

How are you entrepreneurial?

I believe I’m entrepreneurial because I take ideas and bring them to life. My cake business, Nat Cakes My Day, started because I was fascinated by the art of cake decorating so I gave it a shot. And once I realized my passion and talent for it and saw how happy it made people feel, I was motivated to take this to the next level and sell custom cakes and desserts as a business. Our handmade dog bandana business, Bino For Short, started because we just got a new puppy and wanted to make him a bandana. But it didn’t stop there — we thought why not make these trendy bandanas and sell them online so other dogs can wear them too! Being entrepreneurial is about taking your passions, skills and knowledge and creating opportunities!

How does an entrepreneurial mindset contribute to your life?

Having an entrepreneurial mindset contributes so much value and happiness to my life. It is truly the best when you’re doing something you love while also making it a business and lifestyle! While I love my day job as a Customer Success Manager, it’s my side businesses that fuel my creativity and passion for entrepreneurship. My long-term goal is to work without it feeling like work, and that’s why being an entrepreneur is so rewarding.
