My Summer CO-OP With the Entrepreneurship Hub
I’ll be honest, never in my life did I ever think I would have to type entrepreneur or any other variant of the word so many times. I mean, come on, it’s a long word with plenty of room for typos. Trust me, I know.
Before I dive into my experience, let me tell you a bit more about myself — my name is Lucas Chiazza and I am the current Program Coordinator of the Entrepreneurial Mindset Certificate at the University of Ottawa’s Entrepreneurship Hub. In other words, I am the guy who organizes the zoom links, and sometimes sends too many emails to those registered in the program (sorry not sorry).
Here is a bit of what my experience working as a COOP student for the Entrepreneurship Hub has been like this past summer.
The first thing to know about the eHub team is how supportive everyone is! I sometimes like to suggest new ideas (and believe me, some of them aren’t great), but because of the team dynamic and welcoming environment at the eHub, I feel comfortable sharing my thoughts with the team. It is ever so clear that at the eHub, we all want to see each other succeed in all facets of our lives!
When working at the eHub, you are always able to learn something new. Whether that be knowledge passed on to me by fellow students, by the team or by the vast group of talented speakers, I am always learning interesting things about topics in entrepreneurship!
To work at the eHub is to work autonomously (well, for the most part). Since joining the team in May, I have been given somewhat free range to make decisions regarding the Entrepreneurial Mindset Certificate. From work processes to marketing, I have had the opportunity to input my own creative decisions, as long as it gets the job done!
Even though I have only been working at the eHub for a five months, I have enjoyed every moment of this experience. The skills, tools and networks (this is a bit of an EMC joke. If you know, you know) I have developed have been incredibly helpful not only in completing my work responsibilities, but in my own personal development. The University of Ottawa’s Entrepreneurship Hub is an excellent place to work.
